We have Pet Day at Ohaeawai School every year and one of the activities we do is to create a symmetrical design on a saucer using flower petals. You put Vaseline on the saucer first to make the flowers stick. That’s why they are called Vaseline Saucers. Here is a pic of me with mine:
We have been learning about using apps on our Chromebook to create images that look like mosaics or stained glass windows. We used Google Draw to make some and some people also used Sumopaint. Thanks to Covid we could only have
Ohaeawai kids in our cross country this year. I came 3rd to last in my year group.
Yesterday, for maths we had to read a step by step procedure for making a 3D clock. It was very tricky. We had to measure in centimetres to make equilateral triangles, measure the angles with a protractor to check they were 60 degrees, make a clock face and arrows and tie it all together with string. I was glad when I finished. The clock hands were the hardest part. Here is a picture of my clock

Another thing we have been learning in maths is how to solve word problems involving combinations of things. You had to be able to write addition equations showing as many different combinations as we could.
Some people found it was useful to do your figuring out using a table. But not the kind of table you eat off-a mathematical table.

Then, you had to write 5 more sentences using your 5 senses saying how each would relate to love. The emotion I chose was: sadness

In Week 9, Term 2 , we had a day of activities based on Matariki. We got sorted into groups and did rotations. Most of us got to do 2 different activities but some only did one activity if it took a long time. I chose to take part in: The star thing with Mrs craig, and then rap\band song retelling about a Matariki story.

In Week 7, we looked at an example of a piece of writing that was inspired by a picture. The writing had lots of personification in it.
